The figures that move energy costs in Nigeria, each with its date and where it came from. We update them by hand from official releases, so check the date before you rely on one.

What each number means
Brent crude
The world benchmark oil price. When it rises, Nigeria earns more per barrel exported, but imported fuel and the crude Dangote and other refiners buy also cost more.
Naira to US dollar (official market)
How many naira buy one dollar in the official foreign exchange market. Fuel, gas and power equipment are priced in dollars, so a weaker naira raises energy costs at home.
Petrol pump price, Abuja
What drivers paid per litre at major Abuja stations on the day of the check. Prices differ by city and by station, and can change within days.
Petrol, national average (NBS)
The National Bureau of Statistics surveys prices across all states each month. It includes remote areas, where petrol often costs more than in Lagos or Abuja.
Electricity tariff, Band A
The price per unit for customers on feeders promised at least 20 hours of supply a day. Enugu's state regulator, for example, cut its Band A rate to ₦160 in July 2025.
Crude oil output, incl. condensate
How many barrels Nigeria produced each day on average in the month. More output means more export earnings and more crude available to local refineries.
CNG retail price range
What CNG stations charged per standard cubic metre, the unit vehicles are filled in. It is a range because prices vary by station and city.
